Getting ready for your studio photoshoot: some friendly tips
So, you’ve booked a studio photoshoot — exciting! Whether it’s your first time or you’re basically a pro by now, a little prep goes a long way. Here are a few things I always recommend to help you feel your best before stepping in front of the camera:
First off, talk to your photographer. Seriously, don’t be shy! If you have a vibe or concept in mind — like cozy and natural, bold and glamorous, or even just “I want to look like myself on a really good day” — bring it up. Good photographers want to hear your ideas. It’s way easier to work together when you’re on the same page, and it’ll help you relax knowing you’re both aiming for the same vision.
Also, let’s talk clothes! The colours and shapes you choose can completely change the mood of the photos. Pieces you feel comfortable and beautiful in will give you the self confidence we are looking for. And let's not miss out on the magic of matching colours! I always prefer discussing beforehand and go over everything together. It makes a big difference, and it’s actually a lot of fun planning it out. If you’re not sure, it’s better to bring a few extra outfits — we can try different looks on the spot!
And last but definitely not least: take care of yourself before the shoot. Sleep well the night before (your skin will thank you), avoid drinking alcohol (puffy faces, not cute), and try not to eat super salty foods (same reason). A little self-care will help you show up looking fresh and feeling good — and honestly, that energy shines right through the camera.
At the end of the day, it’s all about feeling good in your skin and having a little fun with it. The camera picks up on that energy, trust me!
